Chetola
The estate was purchased by Coca-Cola King Luther Snyder in
1926. He reportedly paid $36,000 for 36 acres and later expanded it to about 160 acres. Chetola, which means "haven of rest" in Cherokee became the summer destination of the Snyder clan.
Developers began expanding Chetola's offerings in the1980s and in 1997 Ken Tarbutton and his mother, Rachael Renar, purchased the estate and have nurtured and developed into a first-class resort.
Today the estate is known as Chetola Resorts, an 87-acre world-class playground in Blowing Rock. The resort features luxury accommodations for travelers. as well as a large number of single owner and timeshare
condominiums.
